Ceramic Coating

To understand what ceramic coating is, it’s helpful to look at what other common paint protection products are used.

Wax is one of the most commonly used products for vehicles of all kinds. This is not surprising when you see how affordable it is and how many different forms of wax exist. For many years, waxing has been known as the process to keep your vehicle looking shiny and new. The unfortunate part is wax is not very durable and so has to be applied every few months.

Other products more recently used are sealants. These are synthetic products, and while they last several months, they don’t offer the same deep shine.

A ceramic coating is a silica-based liquid polymer that is applied by hand and cures to form a protective layer on the surface that, when properly maintained, can be effective and last for several years.

That long-lasting protection is the main reason car owners choose a ceramic coating over the other options. Essentially it is a hard shell layer that will prevent water stains, road grime, bird droppings, and other substances from reaching and harming the paint. With a quick rinse, they’ll simply slide right off.

There are many, many different forms of Ceramic Coating on the market today. Some companies even claim their products are ceramic coatings when they have as little as 0.03% ceramic in them.

These off-the-shelf products don’t work. While they do offer a shine after first applying them, they don’t last long and your vehicle will soon after go back to looking the same as it was.

The Detail Depot uses only the highest quality ceramic coating products to ensure it lasts many years.
