What is Wet Sanding a Car? – Wet Sanding a Boat/Car
Wet sanding is an advanced correction technique used when normal polishing or compounding alone may not provide the desired improvement.
When Wet Sanding Is Used
Depending on paint condition, wet sanding may be used to address severe oxidation, deeper surface imperfections, paint texture, stubborn defects, certain scratches, remaining vinyl lettering shadows, heavy water-spot etching and headlight oxidation.
How It Works
Wet sanding removes a controlled amount of surface material using fine-grit sandpaper and water as a lubricant. It should only be used when appropriate.
Not the First Step
Many imperfections can be improved with less aggressive methods such as machine polishing or compounding. The Detail Depot evaluates the surface and uses the least aggressive process appropriate.
Followed by Compounding and Polishing
Wet sanding is generally followed by compounding and polishing to restore gloss.
Inspection Required
Every vehicle must be inspected before wet sanding is recommended. Call 727-642-6191.
